Home Office: Decor Guide that Inspires Creativity

While some may still argue whether working from home actually gives better results or not, a recent study showed that people working from home actually got more work done during the same work hours, as opposed to those working in the office. This really comes as no surprise because, when working from home, you’re completely in charge of organizing your work hours. Not only that but a peaceful environment, such as your home office, allows you to focus more on the job at hand, thus give better results.
However, keep in mind that not just any home office will suffice. If your home office is filled with old furniture and basically resembles a storage room more than it does an office, chances are that your productivity will suffer. That’s why we’ve prepared a list of tips and tricks on how you can turn your home office into a chic creativity hub.

Find the right place

If you’re not happy with the current location of your home office, inspect your home to see if you can relocate it. While some people enjoy having some background noise while working, the majority of us still needs peace and quiet. If that’s also the case with you, find a quiet little corner in your home and set up your office there.

Make sure it has plenty of light

Another common productivity killer is poor lighting. The lack of proper light will cause eye-strain which, in turn, can trigger a migraine, and that’s definitely something you should avoid. So, if your office is not filled with plenty of natural light, make sure you at least install some quality artificial lighting. Implementing layered lighting in the design is the best way to go as it will provide you with just enough light, without being too overwhelming.

Consider the colors

Now, when choosing a color scheme for your home office, keep in mind that not all of us react to the same color the same way. You might have read somewhere that the color yellow, for example, can boost your energy levels which sounds like something you definitely want in your office. But what if you hate yellow? In that case, it will only have a negative effect on your mood. Therefore, when choosing the colors, feel free to go with the ones you personally like.

Get the right office supplies

No office can inspire you and boost your creativity levels without the proper equipment. Aside from a good laptop and a fast internet connection, you’ll also need a separate landline for your business needs. Furthermore, also obtain all the necessary office items, which can easily be found in places like Winc office supplies. They’ll get you covered on pens, staples and stationary you need to start your business.

Don’t forget the furniture

Aside from the office supplies, you’ll also need proper office furniture. So, ditch that squeaking chair and replace it with an ergonomic one. When it comes to choosing the right office desk, you can literally go with any that’s of the right height. Finally, don’t forget to add enough filing cabinets and other storage solutions, as the visual mess can seriously hinder your productivity.

Add pizzazz with other decor elements

Once you take care of all the furniture and other necessities, it’s time to make your office beautiful. Here, you should consider getting a comfortable sofa – for some break time – and sprucing it up with sheepskin throws and colorful throw pillows. Also, add a beautiful area rug and a nice coffee table to tie the entire room together.

Green it up

Not only is filling your office with potted indoor plants good for your physical health but it’s also great for your mental health and the overall well-being. Having some greenery in your office can reduce stress and boost productivity, and it also makes the entire space look livelier and more welcoming. Furthermore, plants are also excellent indoor air purifiers.

Go with aromatherapy

Finally, making your office smell good is also very important. Just like you put a nice perfume on every time you go out, you should make your office not only look but smell great as well. Soft scents – like lavender, orange blossom, lilac – have a soothing effect, which will put your mind at ease and result in increased focus. So, fill your home office with scented candles, scent diffusers and essential oil diffusers, but make sure you never mix more than two scents to avoid making your office too stuffy to concentrate.

As you can see, creating a home office that looks beautiful and boosts creativity is really not that difficult. Just think about all the things that you find inspiring and motivating and try to implement them in your home office design. This will help you reach maximum productivity in no time, which will only have a positive effect on your business-related efforts.
